The group enjoyed a lovely summer walk around Westhead. We started in Ruff Wood
walked down to Wigan Road , along Alice’s Walk to the old railway line where the
‘Skem Jazzer’ used to take passengers from Ormskirk to Skelmersdale and beyond before
the line closed to freight in 1964. We then carried onto Sandy Lane, then Castle Lane
and stopped for refreshments at the Halton Castle Pub before returning home.
