Sporting Challenge have been awarded funding from some of the West Lancashire division of Lancashire County Councillors from the Lancashire County Council Local Member Grant Scheme.
Sporting Challenge is made up of parents and carers who have been providing sporting activities for around 40 people with learning difficulties in West Lancashire since 2008 by organising evening and weekend activities which are a great way for their service users to have fun, make friends and lead an active lifestyle whist providing valuable respite for their parents/carers.
Edward McCarthy Sporting Challenge Trustee and Secretary said “This is a fantastic opportunity for adults with additional needs in West Lancashire and will help us continue funding the acrivities we do. It gives credit to all our hard work to once again receive funding from this scheme.
Sporting Challenge Chairman John Haggart also said “ I am delighted with the support we received from this scheme.”
Currently we have received £1100 in total from-
- Cllr David Westley (Conservative) – West Lancashire East.
- Cllr Terry Aldridge (Labour) – Skelmersdale Central.
- Cllr C Dereli (Labour) – West Lancs West.
- Cllr Julie Gibson (Labour) – Skelmersdale West.
- Cllr N Hennessy (Labour) – Ormskirk West.

Divine Days Community Arts CIC is a community interest company set up to make the Arts accessible to the most vulnerable within our community.
Divine Days are running a 12 month project in conjunction with charities Sporting Challenge and West Lancs Positive Living to deliver creative sessions for adults with additional needs using: Art Zone, Relaxation Zone, Massage Zone, Aromatherapy Zone, Drama, Creative Movement and Crafts Activities.
They will take place 10.00am 12.00pm every Tuesday from 1st April at the Greenhill Community Centre, Beech Close off Lancaster Drive, Skelmersdale, Lancs WN8 8DL. Places must be booked in advance and there is a charge of £7 per Session. Transport can be arranged within West Lancs.
