Sporting Challenge celebrated their first 10 years by holding a big party in Burscough on Saturday 21st July at the British Legion in Burscough.
The party was a huge success, there was a buffet, a disco and a raffle.
Sporting Challenge are a family led charity supporting people with learning disabilities, where all members of the Board of Trustees are parents and carers themselves.
The charity aims to provide sporting activities to encourage people with learning disabilities to keep fit and healthy. Their activities include: Aerobics, Bowling, Boccia, Kurling, Zumba/Dance, Swimming and other Fitness Activities.
They support around 53 people in the West Lancashire area to access a variety of activities by providing transport to and from their homes and the appropriate sessional workers to support them whilst carrying out the activities. Sessional staff live across the borough of West Lancashire and are fully trained in order to perform their duties.
Edward McCarthy Sporting Challenge Activities Organiser said: “I can’t believe we are ten years old. Time goes by so fast. On behalf of Sporting Challenge I wish to thank everyone who has helped us over the ten years. I wish to especially thank all the families and our staff. I would also like to thank the committee. Our activities make a huge difference. I wish to thank Yummy’s Catering for our fantastic buffet, the British Legion in Burscough for hosting our party, Gary Reece for being our DJ and entertaining us. I also wish to thank everyone who donated a raffle prize.”
