Hothersall Lodge Holiday 6th-8th Sept 2019

Members of the Sporting Challenge group based in West Lancashire attended a weekend activity holiday at Hothersall Lodge between the 6th -8th September 2019.

Activities Organiser Edward McCarthy reports: “The weekend was a huge success. I was very proud of our group members (and staff !)  who gave it their all during the weekend and all successfully tried very challenging and at times daunting activities. On our way home despite tiredness everyone was asking where and when is the next one !”

Aerobics 5 9 2019

Dear all,

Amanda who has run our aerobics sessions for a long time has been in touch with me. She is taking a few months off running any aerobics sessions.

So I have secured us a new aerobics session at the Burscough Fitness and Racquets Centre in Burscough. It will be downstairs in the room we have done circuit training in. It will start at 8pm and be on the usual last Thursday of each month.

It will be with a lady called Andrea.

We will be there for September, October and November. We don’t usually have one in December so should be back with Amanda in January. Amanda has let the Old People’s Club know about the break.

Best wishes Edward.

Information 4 9 2019

Dear all,

Some information for you. A number of weeks ago one of our group members was diagnosed as having scabies, they were promptly treated and were declared as being clear of it.

It’s been brought to our attention that another member of Sporting Challenge has been diagnosed with scabies and has seen a GP today.

The NHS website says that scabies is not usually a serious condition, but it does need to be treated.

Attached is a link to the NHS website-

https://www.nhs.uk/conditions/scabies/

We have spoken to NHS 111 and they agreed that we should advise everyone of the occurrence.

If you have questions please ask your local pharmacy and or doctor.

Best wishes,

Edward J McCarthy.

Sporting Challenge Activities Organiser.

Alasdair Watson.

Chairman of Sporting Challenge.
