Sporting Challenge had their AGM on 23rd June 2011. The AGM was well attended and discussions took place about how the charity is doing and future plans.
As of Sunday 12th June the Sponsored Walk has raised £800.
Well done to everyone who took part and all our respective sponsors. This funding will help us carry on all our good work.
On the 8th June 2011 some of our users tried a Sailing taster session with Southport’s West Lancashire Yacht Club.
Despite blustery weather it was really good fun and everyone enjoyed it.
We went on sailing boats and speed boats.

Sporting Challenge, a group of parent carers providing sporting activities for local folk with learning disabilities staged its sponsored walk yesterday, Sunday 15th May.
Despite the wet and wild weather, the group didn’t let that stop them, walking from Burscough Wharf to Heaton’s Bridge and back again.
Said Edward, Sporting Challenge secretary: “We aim to keep members fit and healthy. We also arrange evening and weekend activities include 10 pin bowling, aerobics, swimming and boccia/curling at local Sports Centres.
“Many people with a learning disability don’t take part in any exercise activity because the family carers who support them are either not motivated or unable to take them on such activities which they can’t attend on their own, ” he added.
“Our activities are very popular, and the walk was really enjoyable showing the support we have”.
If anyone would like to still sponsor the walkers please get in touch by calling our chairman John Haggart on 01704 893835
