Sporting Challenge is a charity that supports adults aged over 18 with disabilities to take part in sports and social activities in West Lancashire.
Sporting Challenge are a family led charity supporting people with learning disabilities. It aims to provide sporting activities to encourage people with learning disabilities to keep fit and healthy, and usual activities include aerobics, ten pin bowling, boccia, kurling, dance, pool, walks and other fitness activities.
They support around 50 people in the West Lancashire area to access a variety of activities by providing transport to and from their homes and the appropriate trained sessional workers to support them whilst carrying out the activities.
Sporting Challenge have recently enjoyed two evenings of Kite flying with the support of Smile Factor 10 at Beacon Country Park in Skelmersdale Lancs.
Everyone had a great time with lots of laughter and smiles as they tried in many cases flying a kite for the first time.
Founded by Craig and Sue, SmileFactor10 is a group of kite flying friends based in the north west of England, from Easter to November in the UK, Ireland and Europe they fly kites of all shapes and sizes at Northern Kite Group events, kite festivals, music festivals and other family events. The international kite season starts a bit earlier in January or February each year. They also organise kite displays and teddy parachuting for events of all sizes including music festivals, food and country festivals, corporate events, car shows, private events and school fetes across the north of England
These two evenings were funded by the National Lottery Community Award with Sporting Challenge also passing on a huge thank-you to both Smile Factor 10 and The National Lottery.
